- Location: Puopolo Park, North End
Commercial Street
Boston, Massachusetts
Event Description
More than one million Americans will be diagnosed with skin cancer this year and one in five Americans will be diagnosed with skin cancer during their lifetime — skin cancer affects people of all skin types!
Join Mayor Thomas M. Menino, the City of Boston, EPA, SHADE Foundation of America, and SHADE President Shonda Schilling in recognizing the City of Boston as a SunWise City.
This kick off highlights the City of Boston’s campaign to advocate for protecting children’s health and the environment by becoming a SunWise City and encouraging all city students and their families to learn about and practice sun-safe behavior with the support of Shade Foundation of America and EPA.
Please join us to plant trees, view posters from SHADE Foundation of America and EPA’s National Poster Contest, participate in fun sun safety activities, enjoy a free concert by award winning kids musical group the Swingset Mamas, performers of the hit song “Sunscreen Dance,” and learn more about staying safe in the sun.
