More than one mil­lion Americans will be diag­nosed with skin can­cer this year and one in five Americans will be diag­nosed with skin can­cer dur­ing their life­time — skin can­cer affects peo­ple of all skin types!

Join Mayor Thomas M. Menino, the City of Boston, EPA, SHADE Foundation of America, and SHADE President Shonda Schilling in rec­og­niz­ing the City of Boston as a SunWise City.

This kick off high­lights the City of Boston’s cam­paign to advo­cate for pro­tect­ing children’s health and the envi­ron­ment by becom­ing a SunWise City and encour­ag­ing all city stu­dents and their fam­i­lies to learn about and prac­tice sun-safe behav­ior with the sup­port of Shade Foundation of America and EPA.

Please join us to plant trees, view posters from SHADE Foundation of America and EPA’s National Poster Contest, par­tic­i­pate in fun sun safety activ­i­ties, enjoy a free con­cert by award win­ning kids musi­cal group the Swingset Mamas, per­form­ers of the hit song “Sunscreen Dance,” and learn more about stay­ing safe in the sun.
