On behalf of everyone at SHADE, we would like to thank you for participating in our Sunset Run for SHADE event on Friday, May 14, 2010.  Because of your generosity and time, our event was a great success -- this event helped us to make a difference in the lives of so many in our community in preventing skin cancer through education and awareness!  Special thanks to Safeway Stores, Southwest Skin Specialists of Scottsdale, RacePlace Events/Runners Den of Phoenix, The City of Scottsdale, Scottsdale Police, Scottsdale Stadium and Action Barricade.  We are grateful to the following for product donations:  Vitamin Water, Gatorade, Shamrock Farms, China Mist Teas, TopLine Foods, Souvia Tea, Albertsons, Scottsdale Healthcare, Banner Health, East Valley Office Supply, Gladerma, TruWest Credit Union, Friends4Fitness and Pictures in Crystal.

SHADE is already plan­ning the 2011 annual Sunset Run for SHADE for next year and we hope you will join us again at Scottsdale Stadium!  Save the date:  Saturday, May 7, 2011.

May 2010 event information

One mil­lion peo­ple will be diag­nosed with some form of skin can­cer this year!!!  Early detec­tion is impor­tant and it is the mis­sion of SHADE® Foundation of America to erad­i­cate melanoma through the edu­ca­tion of chil­dren and the com­mu­nity in the pre­ven­tion and detec­tion of skin can­cer and the pro­mo­tion of sun safety.  We would like to invite you to par­tic­i­pate in our sec­ond annual Sunset Run for SHADE event — we are host­ing a  5K Run/Walk, 1 Mile Family Fun Run on Friday, May 14, 2010 in the Scottsdale Stadium!  The details are listed below.  We hope you can join us and bring your fam­ily and/or a team to “out­run skin cancer”!!

Run or walk to increase aware­ness and edu­ca­tion on the pre­ven­tion of skin can­cer!!  Run or walk as a memo­riam to those lost to melanoma!  Run or walk as a skin can­cer survivor!

Sunset 5K Run/Walk (timed run) for com­pet­i­tive run­ners, cor­po­rate teams, and casual run­ners and walk­ers!
Sunset Family Fun 1 Mile Walk/Run  for casual run­ners and walk­ers, and fam­i­lies includ­ing wag­ons and strollers!
