Fundraising
Tips
As a Run for SHADE Athlete, you
will get your own fundraising
web page and support from our team mentor.
- Set up your fundraising web page; then put the
link on all of your email correspondence. Ask people in every
email you write to go to your web page to see your training and
fundraising progress. Keep asking them to make a donation.
- Keep your web page up to date with notes about
your training and your experience.
Here are some additional ideas.
Training Resources
Need Encouragement?
- "Motivation has to come from within. Always
dare to be the VERY BEST. I make up my mind to shoot for the moon.
Even if I don't make it, I'll be among the stars." - Francie
Larrieu Smith, five-time Olympic runner
- "Somehow I can't believe that there are
any heights that can't be scaled by anyone who knows the secrets
of making dreams come true. This special secret - curiosity, confidence,
courage, and constancy. And, the greatest of all is confidence.
When you believe in anything, believe in it ALL THE WAY, implicitly
and unquestionable. This is what makes you who you are; the thing
that keeps you going in the face of untoward circumstances; the
thing that gives you resistance and drive." Walt Disney
- If you tell yourself that your race is going
to hurt and that it won't be any fun, your expectations will probably
come true. Instead tell yourself that there will be challenges,
counterbalanced by feelings of joy and satisfaction." - Jeff
Galloway
- "I wish that someone had told me that no
matter how far I ran or how long it took me, I was a "real"
runner just by being out there."-Anne Koeller, age 38 running
for 6 years.
- "Success is to be measured not so much by
the position that one has reached in life... as by the obstacles
which he has overcome while trying to succeed."--- Booker
T. Washington
