Press Release

BOSTON RED SOX PITCHER CURT SCHILLING & HIS WIFE SHONDA SHARE SUN-SAFETY MESSAGE IN PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT!
SHADE Foundation 2005 PSA Airing On TV Stations This Summer

(Medfield, MA-June 14, 2005) The 2005 SHADE Foundation of America Public Service Announcement is now airing on television stations reminding people to enjoy the sun wisely. Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling and his wife, SHADE Foundation Founder, Shonda Schilling, appear in the thirty-second PSA with their 4 children to help prevent skin cancer.

"So many people want to get out and enjoy the nice weather. We just hope they will pay attention to the public service announcement and enjoy the outdoors safely," said Shonda Schilling, a melanoma survivor. "Skin cancer can happen to anyone. If you limit the sun, not the fun, you can reduce the risk for your loved ones."

Statistics indicate one in five children will grow up to develop skin cancer.

The public service campaign is an attempt to reduce the statistic by educating people to practice sun-safety. The PSA suggests people wear sunblock, sunglasses, hats and seek shade during prime sun hours of 10:00AM and 4:00PM.

Production for the PSA was donated by JWT, the advertising agency that produces all of the New England Ford Dealers Association advertisements which feature Curt Schilling and his family.

"The New England Ford Dealers and JWT are proud to be associated with the Schillings, both for on and off field efforts. In supporting SHADE, its our hope that their message will be more far reaching and powerful," said Scott Kavanagh, senior partner for JWT.
