CURT & SHONDA SCHILLING HOSTING 2nd Annual
Holiday Shopping in the SHADE
SHADE- The Curt and Shonda Schilling Melanoma Foundation of America raising money for sun-safety awareness.

(Phoenix, AZ-November 7, 2003) SHADE-The Curt and Shonda Schilling Melanoma Foundation of America will host its 2nd annual Holiday Shopping in the SHADE on Thursday, December 4th at the Lakeside Pavilion at the Millennium Resort in Scottsdale.

Arizona Diamondbacks Pitcher Curt Schilling and his wife SHADE Foundation Founder, Shonda Schilling, will host the evening featuring champagne, wine, hors d'oeuvres, music, holiday lights and live and silent auctions. Proceeds from the event will be used to create sun-safety awareness, provide education and prevent melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer.

"Sun-safety programs are vital in the Arizona community to eliminate future cases of melanoma," says Shonda Schilling. "The funds raised by SHADE will be used to equip elementary school children with hats, sunglasses and playground shade coverings."

According to the American Cancer Society, one out of five children will grow up to develop skin cancer. SHADE was launched in August of 2002 in an attempt to eliminate the growing number of melanoma cases. The foundation has provided hats, sunglasses, sunscreen and the SunWise sun-safety education curriculum to over 400 Arizona schools. SHADE has also conducted free skin-cancer screenings and support groups throughout the community.
