Physician's Choice of Arizona, Inc. partners with SHADE Foundation to deliver the latest melanoma news

June 13, 2003 (Scottsdale, Arizona) The latest news on melanoma breakthroughs is now just a click away at www.shadefoundation.org, thanks to assistance from skin care leader Physician’s Choice of Arizona, Inc. (PCA) As part of its commitment to the SHADE Foundation’s efforts to protect Arizona’s children against melanoma, PCA will underwrite and host a page on the website containing monthly updates of the latest melanoma research and medical news regarding this deadliest form of skin cancer.

The SHADE Foundation is a community based, non-profit organization called recently launched by Shonda Schilling, a skin cancer survivor and the wife of Diamondbacks pitcher, Curt Schilling. The SHADE Foundation’s mission is to “eradicate melanoma through educating children and the community in the prevention and detection of melanoma and the promotion of SunSmartty”.

SHADE Foundation Executive Director, Sue Gorham, welcomes this newest educational component to the organization’s website. President of Physician’s Choice of Arizona, Margaret Ancira, believes that providing accessible and timely information about melanoma to the public is the first step in fighting the disease. “ Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States, with more than 1 million cases diagnosed each year,” states Ms. Ancira. “The good news is that the survival rate is also going up because the public is becoming more educated about the risk factors, leading to an earlier diagnosis and better prognosis for many.

Physician’s Choice of Arizona, Inc. revolutionized the skin care industry by marketing the first non-prescription, clinically researched, results-oriented skin care products directly to the medical and clinical aesthetics markets. The Scottsdale-based company was founded in 1990 by Margaret Ancira, a licensed aesthetician and the innovator of three patented chemical peel formulations. They serve as catalysts for numerous beneficial treatments of skin conditions such as acne, psoriasis, eczema, rosacea, hyperpigmentation and sun damage. Physician’s Choice's skin care products are available through select clinical practices in more than 50 countries.
